Ambrose met his great grandmas this past long weekend. Click here for picture gallery.
Welcome to our blog! We'll update you (our family and friends) on what's happening at the Wardlaw home, as well as share the successes and challenges of renovating our 128 year old house! Oh yeah, and we had a baby.

Cloth Diapers
Well for all of our talk about- and the money spent on- our cloth diaper system, Dave and I were slow to start using cloth diapers on Ambrose. In fact we used them for the first time yesterday, at 7 weeks. It's too early to give an opinion, but we'll let you know how things work out in a few weeks. In the meantime, Ambrose looks adorable in them.
Chariot of Ambrose
Well, we spent a small fortune on a recent purchase: a Chariot. We received gifts of cash at the baby shower to put towards the purchase of one. After some research we decided to buy the Chariot's Cougar 2. We decided on the double - not because we plan to have 2 kids (we're not) - but for the ability to bring along a cousin or little friend or to transport stuff (e.g, toys, camping stuff etc). We are excited to try the various attachments, specifically the bicycle and x-ski kits. We decided to start with the jogging attachment for now. Because Ambrose is still a little baby we picked up the infant sling. Unfortunately, he did not enjoy his inaugural voyage last night, which was cut short due to his unhappy tears. Picture if you can a baby in a hammock like contraption within a chariot, the baby is hanging too close to the screen cover so he can kick his feet to emphasize his unhappiness (sling must have been installed too tight). David thought he looked like a baby astronaut in his space ship. Doesn't help that it was becoming dark outside. We'll try again some other time.
Weeks 5 and 6
These past 2 weeks were busy with birthdays, Mother's day and visits with family (Nana Shirley snuck in another visit and Ambrose and I spent some time with my mom), friends and work colleagues (I dropped by the staff retreat). We attended our prenatal class reunion. Dave went back to work so Ambrose and I got a taste of what it's like to be without dad for an extended period of time.
Some observations about Ambrose:
Ambrose loves bath time.
David likes to entertain (or pacify) Ambrose by playing various musical instruments (e.g. violin, harmonica).
Ambrose calms down when Gymnopedie No.1 by Eric Satie is played.
Baby is "talking", cooing and smiling more and more each day.
Baby loves to disarm me at 5 in the morning with a sweet smile.
Like most babies, Ambie normally falls to sleep promptly whenever placed in a moving vehicle or stroller or worn within the baby bjorn.
Baby likes to hold me hostage for marathon feedings.
Ambrose is almost out of his 0-3 month outfits (we cannot get over how big he's getting, becoming longer and filling out).
Ambie likes to be held at all times (has yet to sleep for long on his own).
